She stopped living a normal life when…her husband found her in bed with a body poisoned by hemiplegia and at 33 years old was officially diagnosed with hemiplegic migraine. Years later and still living with this disorder, Natasha is set on a journey to raise awareness of this debilitating condition to erase the stigma many migraine sufferers have endured for so long.
Out of a billion people world-wide suffering from migraines, hemiplegic migraines have a reported prevalence of impacting 1 out of 10,000. The Silent Paralyzer is a memoir of how people afflicted with rare conditions struggle everyday in the face of unfair prejudice, wrong diagnoses and fear of being a lifelong burden to their loved ones. It is also a story that shares a journey of repeated survival and recovery and is a testament of the human condition that demands courage and grit to push forward, no matter the odds.
Migraine, a complex neurological condition, goes beyond just a headache. It’s a debilitating experience characterized by intense throbbing pain, often accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and in some cases

My story is unique in that it talks about a disorder that is so rare – even doctors and other seasoned healthcare providers don’t always know how to diagnosis or treat. While this is a memoir, it is also a resource that people who also suffer from rare migraine conditions helpful, as there is such limited resources around hemiplegic migraine.

While this is a memoir, it’s also a resource for people who suffer from rare migraines or for those who care for people struggling through rare conditions like me. If nothing else, I hope those who read my story will realize they are not alone.
